Description
ClimbrIQ plans, writes and refreshes SEO articles for your business. This plugin is the WordPress end of that: it receives each finished article and publishes it on your site, so there is nothing to copy and paste.
What it does
- Publishes each article as a live post, or as a draft if you prefer to publish yourself.
- Sets the title, excerpt, featured image and slug, and fills in the SEO title and meta description for Yoast SEO, Rank Math or SEOPress when one of them is active.
- Updates the same post when ClimbrIQ refreshes an article — without changing whether it is published, and never touching a post you have moved to the bin.
- Lets Bing and other IndexNow search engines know about each new or refreshed article straight away (you can turn this off).
- Shows recent activity under Settings ClimbrIQ, so you can see what arrived and why anything failed.
How it stays safe
- ClimbrIQ can only reach this plugin’s two endpoints, and every request must carry a valid signature from ClimbrIQ’s private key. The plugin checks it with ClimbrIQ’s public key, which is built into the plugin.
- Requests are tied to your connection and expire after five minutes, so they cannot be replayed or redirected to another site.
- The plugin can create and update only the posts it created itself. It cannot read, change or delete anything else on your site.
- Your connection token is never stored — only a fingerprint of it.
A ClimbrIQ account is required. Publishing to WordPress is part of the Autopilot plan.
External services
This plugin connects your site to ClimbrIQ, an SEO content service run by Think Commerce Ltd (trading as ClimbrIQ).
- What is received: ClimbrIQ sends article content (title, body, excerpt, SEO title and description, slug and the address of a featured image) to this site’s REST API when an article is published or refreshed, together with this site’s IndexNow key, and a connection test when you click Test connection in ClimbrIQ.
- What is sent back: the ID, address and status of the post created or updated, the address of the IndexNow key file (when IndexNow is on), and — for the connection test — the plugin and WordPress versions, the site name, the chosen author’s display name, the publishing mode and which SEO plugin is active.
- IndexNow: when a live post is published or refreshed, ClimbrIQ’s servers (not this plugin) send its address to IndexNow at api.indexnow.org, which shares it with Bing, Yandex, Seznam, Naver and Yep so they can crawl it sooner. The search engines then fetch one public file from this site,
<your site>/<key>.txt, which the plugin serves, to confirm the site agreed. Only post addresses are sent. IndexNow terms. Turn it off under Settings ClimbrIQ. - Featured images: when an article has a featured image, this site downloads it from the address ClimbrIQ provides (ClimbrIQ’s image storage).
- The plugin makes no other outgoing requests and sends no analytics.

FAQ
-
Do I need a ClimbrIQ account?
-
Yes. The plugin only receives articles from ClimbrIQ; it does not write anything itself.
-
Will articles go live without my approval?
-
ClimbrIQ holds every article for 24 hours before sending it, and you can edit, hold or stop it in that time. If you would rather publish each one yourself, choose “Drafts” under Settings ClimbrIQ.
-
What happens if I edit a post in WordPress?
-
Your edits stay until ClimbrIQ refreshes that article, when the refreshed version replaces the content. WordPress keeps the previous version in the post’s revisions. The post’s status and address never change.
-
My site uses plain permalinks. Does it still work?
-
Yes. ClimbrIQ falls back to the
?rest_route=form of the REST API automatically. -
What is IndexNow, and what is the .txt file?
-
IndexNow lets ClimbrIQ tell Bing and other search engines about a new or refreshed article straight away instead of waiting for them to find it (Google does not use IndexNow). The search engines check a small text file at
<your site>/<key>.txtthat the plugin serves. It contains only the key, which is public by design. Turn IndexNow off under Settings ClimbrIQ and the file disappears. The file is answered by WordPress, so your server must pass requests for files that do not exist to WordPress — standard on Apache with WordPress’s rewrite rules. On nginx hosts that serve
.txtfiles directly, add:location ~ ^/[A-Za-z0-9-]+\.txt$ { try_files $uri /index.php?$args; }. A robots.txt rule, caching plugin or firewall that blocks the file stops IndexNow working, but never stops publishing. -
Connection test says something blocked the request
-
A security plugin or firewall is blocking the WordPress REST API. Allow requests to
/wp-json/climbriq/and test again. -
Does it work on multisite?
-
Activate it on each site you want to connect; each site has its own token and settings.
